Tea Time for Black Butler
About 6 months before the premiere of Black Butler Season 4, the licensors asked the creative team at Crunchyroll to pitch a few pop-up ideas. Now, the 3rd season first aired in 2014, and though there were some OVA’s (made-for-TV movies), the time between seasons had been long enough that fans needed to get excited and amped before this new season.
In combination with the User Acquisition, Social Media, and Lifecycle teams, we pitched the licensors a number of pop-up ideas before they found one they liked. The Black Butler tea house pop-up required quick planning, clear and actionable elements, and coordination with an experienced producer.
I worked with the ACD (Associate Creative Director) to find potential locations, draft communications with vendors, and write up all copy on menus, displays, and the EPK that was sent to invited press.
The event was a smash hit, the licensor representatives in attendance heaped praise on our creative team, and the venue asked us to contact them for other premieres and pop-ups in the future. Success for Black Butler, success all around!
